Obama, Congress, and Treason Against the Constitution

On Thursday, Robert Gibbs, Obamas press secretary, responded to a question about the so-called Slaughter Rule (named after Rep. Slaughter, who sits on the rules committee) that will be used by Democrats to force through Obamas totalitarian care bill, probably over the weekend.

Gibbs answer was deliberately opaque. By not addressing the question, he essentially said deem and pass will be used in the future to enact unpopular legislation, including a bill that will legalize millions of illegal immigrants.

It is now official — the Constitution is dead. It may as well be used to wrap fish.

Article 1, Section 7 of the Constitution requires that both houses of Congress hold recorded yea-or-nay votes on a bill before it can be presented to the president for his signature and before it can become law.

Obama approves of sabotaging the Constitution. He said he does not spend a lot of time worrying about what the procedural rules are, in other words violating the spirit and law of the Constitution is not a biggie for him. What I can tell you is that the vote thats taken in the House will be a vote for health care reform. And if people vote yes, whatever form that takes, that is going to be a vote for health care reform, he told Bret Baier of Fox News.

These constitutional rules set forth in Article I are not mere exercises in formalism, former federal appeals court judge Michael McConnell told the Wall Street Journal earlier in the week. They ensure the democratic accountability of our representatives.

    Health care was …
    Health care was passed by a MAJORITY VOTE in both the house and the senate. If a MAJORITY VOTE is some kind of “Obama takeover of the country by totalitarian tactics” to you, you need to check into a mental hospital.

    The white, male demographic of Alex Jones’ show (which is probably 99% of you – what a sausage-fest) are just going to have to get used to the fact that you won’t have the social power that you used to. Now, everybody is equal.

    @keeperofthefire I agree with your resentment of all of us who said nothing or were cheerleaders for Bush and Cheney, and unfortunately have to include myself in the mix of fools who voted for those pieces of garbage. I think many if not most of those who fell into that category are indeed waking up to the reality of it at this point.

    The core of the …
    The core of the issue is this. For most of the last three decades, tax rates for the wealthy have been falling, while their pretax pay has been rising rapidly. Real incomes at the 99.99th percentile have jumped more than 300 percent since 1980. At the 99th percentile — about $300,000 today — real pay has roughly doubled. (NYT quote) They are paying for it in tax increases. Wake up people, these rich elite will never let you break into their bracket. It’s not socialism, it’s anti- oligarchy.

    I love that …
    I love that everyone is acting like health care is the worst thing to hit america since it’s creation. We just went through a massive economic meltdown, we went to war, and some of our largest employers are needing bailouts. And health care for 30 million is what gets the conservatives angry.

    Seriously people, get some perspective. This isn’t a bad thing. All the ridiculous propaganda saying health care = loss of freedom! socialism! Evil is on our doorstep!

    Get a clue.

    @titanosuarus …
    @titanosuarus America has been in trouble for years and it got a lot worse with the recent Supreme Court decision in favor of the corporations. You could throw the whole congress out and the next crowd would just get bought by the corporations all over again. The real fight is getting and keeping the corporations from buying our elected officials.

  17. youcrackpot Says:

    Its not their own …
    Its not their own money. It is the stockholder’s money. Why should an exclusive group of executives have the power to spend huge sums of other people’s money when the average person does not have that ability?

  20. youcrackpot Says:

    @BorderCity: …
    @BorderCity: You’re not going to buy health insurance? I’m sick of paying for you worthless bums that want to get free care when you show up at the ER. Why don’t you want to pay your own way? What you call “freedom” is just wanting to get things for free.
    It would great if you had to get health insurance or sign a form saying that in that case you agree to not receive treatment at the hospital. Maybe your butcher will do your gall bladder operation for you for a couple hundred dollars.

    “Congress gave final approval to legislation that would provide medical coverage to tens of millions of Americans and remake the U.S. health care system along the lines proposed by President Obama.

    As soon as Oboma signs it, its a done deal.

    This is going to be the most radical summer since 1968.
