If you have not heard congress is holding a hearing on whether or not the bcs breaks the antitrust law.
My personal feelings is yes, congress should get involved in this and force a playoff system. For those who say our congress have more important things to fix, than explain what they have fixed lately that Americans truly notice and care about. Look I am sure it is not a huge cost for congress to meet up about a system that is illegal, and benefits only major conference teams. What are your thoughts?
The more I watch the BCS, the more it makes sense….. playoffs are unfair

I agree…NCAA Division I needs a playoff, and if Congress has to impose legal action on the NCAA, BCS or conferences to do it, then they should do it…
Some people are narrow-minded idiots…The BCS is in it for the MONEY. Not the FANS…

I agree that the BCS is dumb and playoffs are the way to go… but seriously, doesn’t Congress have anything better to do?

Now that there are hundreds of millions of dollars involved in the bowl games alone, the government wants control. There is no way in the world Congress should get involved in how colleges conduct their postseason athletics. And it is not "illegal" the way it is. Yes, big money has negatively influenced the sport, but the only thing worse than the corrosive effects of big money on the game would be the federal government and politics.

it’s idiotic, i think this is orrin hatch (r) of utah’s big thing. the fact that he is messing with this bullshit is just proof that he should be thrown out of office. this isn’t important at ALL.
and besides, if there was a playoff, the end of the texas game last week wouldn’t have mattered. none of the championship games would matter, none of the end of season rivalry games would matter, and there would just be infinitely more people complaining that there team didn’t get into the playoff. college football is like real life, everything is not black and white. it’s good.

Anything the government gets involved in usually turns out worse than what they were looking into. I agree something needs to be done about the BSC (it is a Bull Sh*t Championship…therefore the BSC and not BCS). But do we really want congress involved? Who wants to bet it is congressmen in college towns that feel shafted by the BSC that opened this round of crap? And at the end of the day it is all about the money….MLB violates antitrust laws and not only does congress realize it….they made laws to exempt baseball….go figure. Something needs to be done but this is the wrong group of clowns to trust to do the right thing (but I bet more than a few "donors" step up to line campaign coffers to keep the NCAA exempt from anti trust law). Funny how these things "come up" just ahead of a major year for congress elections….get the idea how this antitrust stuff came about and its timing….they arent doing it for you and me, thats for sure!

Do we now live in a dictatorship? The govt. has no business messing with the BCS or any other sports league. The BCS is essentially a private business. What if congress doesn’t like the NFL playoff system do they then mandate to the NFL who gets into the playoffs?
If congress wants a "fair" system then congress should start their own championship series. What a corrupt joke that would be. They can call it the Obama Bowl, and Eric Holder can decide who gets to participate. Within 10 years all the bowls will be bankrupt.
After the bowls are over TCU (or any other school) can declare themselves National Champion and commission a trophy and everything. The problem is nobody will give them any credibility.

I think it’s so stupid that they are getting involved in college football.
Why change college football when it is SUPER popular. You don’t see the kind of crowds in NFL as we see in college. If no one likes the way college football is played, why do they all watch it? i think the BCS give college football a do or die feeling all throughout the season and everybody craves that whether they know it or not.

i think they should concentrate on more important things… Dont we have more important issues for them to be "voting" on?

The choices of the BCS go beyond sports, teams chosen to play in BCS games receive millions of dollars, higher recruiting, and recognition which greatly aids the schools and their students. If the BCS is not going to change anything on their own, then I agree with congress’ decision to step in.
BSU v. TCU wtf?

I think Congress has more important things to worry about. Like our country circling the crapper caused by Obama’s stupid idea’s.

No if you think things are f**ked up now what do you think will happen if the goverment runs the playoff system.as much as I want a playoff system and maybe many others do as well.It is not good to get the goverment involved.
Who will do the seeding?I guess you don’t think any powerful congressman will not have a say in the bracketing.
