Posted by admin on July 9th, 2010 and filed under congress elections | 3 Comments »

A sneak peek at the new show Running from RightNetwork. Find more at http://rightnetwork.com Follow John Dennis as he runs for Congress against Nancy Pelosi in California’s 8th District.
A reality series told primarily in the first-person, Running is not just political, it’s personal; a fly-on-the-wall expose of what it takes to launch, build, run and maybe even win a political campaign. Whether running for the Senate or a seat in Congress, our stories begin with the initial euphoria of someone determined to make a difference. We see what it takes to assemble a team, face the challenges of raising money and tackle the issues on the campaign trail. It all leads right up to the day voters decide on November 2, 2010.

How many seats US Congress will be up for grabs in the upcoming November elections?

Posted by admin on June 27th, 2010 and filed under congress elections | 2 Comments »

I am a Liberal but I know that with the Obama Administrations extremely low approval rating – Republicans are going to win in just about all races. I just am not sure how many seats in both the Senate and House will be up for grabs. How can I find out?

Every two years -every- seat in the House of Representatives is up for grabs. They serve 2 year terms. So they have to get re-elected in every even-year election.

Senators serve for six years, so 1/3 of the seats come up every time.

There are any number of websites that list all the races. Just google ‘Senate races 2010′ or ‘congressional races 2010′.

I think anti-incumbent feeling has been greatly exaggerated by the Republicans. Whenever the Republicans are out of office they push anti-incumbency measures. Last time it was term limits (which they fought hard for as the minority, but forgot all about once they had majorities in both houses), and the DRIP campaign (Don’t Re-elect Incumbent Politicians). But in fact incumbents have a huge advantage and they are very hard to unseat.

In the primary earlier this month, all the news networks reported a very strong anti-incumbent feeling in the electorate. But of 80-something incumbents who had to defend their seats, all but 2 won, and one of those was only forced into a run-off.

Rep. Kanjorski admits the Democrats Over-Promised on Iraq

Posted by admin on June 16th, 2010 and filed under congress elections | 25 Comments »

“I’ll tell you my impression. We really in this last election, when I say we…the democrats, I think pushed it as far as we can to the end of the fleet, didn’t say it, but we implied it. That if we won the Congressional elections, we could stop the war. Now anybody was a good student of Government would know that wasn’t true. But you know, the temptation to want to win back the Congress, we sort of stretched the facts…and people ate it up.”

One year ago was a moment when many things felt possible — whether or not you supported President Obama’s agenda. One year later, we’ve now seen that even a transformative figure in the Oval Office can’t transform the way Washington works. Only we can.

Watch Lawrence Lessig’s video presentation on why the Fair Elections Now Act is the most important reform right now to restore public trust in our democracy.
